OSCAR WILDE'S
SALOME´
Jan. 31, 2010 · 2:30pm - 4:30pm · The Jung Center of Houston · FREE
Explore the dangers of seduction, in the Biblical sense, during this
staged reading and conversation about Oscar Wilde's SALOME´. Wilde depicts
Salome´ as a seductress of her stepfather and a murderer of a saint.
Using the infamous "Dance of the Seven Veils," Salome´ takes advantage
of King Herod's lust to obtain the object of her desire - John the
Baptist. Written in 1893, it caused a scandal when the censors
cancelled rehearsals and banned public performances because of the
play's use of biblical characters. Please join us for a reading of the
play, followed by a discussion of the themes with the cast and
psychotherapist Sean Fitzpatrick.
This event is free of charge - no RSVP necessary. If you prefer, you can call The Jung Center at 713.524.8253 to register for this event.
