Drag has been with us for centuries, from Shakespearean times to the Harlem Renaissance to Broadway to Brunch. Thanks to TV shows like RuPaul’s Drag Race, drag is now in the living rooms and hearts of mainstream America. Drag allows us to spoof, to question and to blur the lines of gender and sometimes, to discover our true authentic selves. Drag definitely allows us to PLAY. So let’s celebrate this artform, have a party and raise some much needed funds for the Catastrophic Theatre!
We would love for you to join our Host Committee. What does it mean to be on the Host Committee? Simply put, lots of fun and very little work. Specifically, you’d be responsible for:
- Attending the party
- Spreading the word about the event
- Purchasing tickets at the $150 supporter level or higher
- Having a fabulous time!
Costumes are always a hoot at our parties. We’re thinking snazzy suits, spiky stilettos, bow ties, boas, muscle tees, muumuus, and wigs galore! Camp, glam, sequins and mustaches for all!
Get Your Drag On: Need some assistance with costuming? We‘ll have make-up artists on hand to gussy you up with instant facial hair and sparkly eye shadows. Plus accessories aplenty, all for the taking! And of course, you can always show up in jeans and be right at home at a Catastrophic party where truly anything goes!
Did we mention entertainment? We’ve got a FABULOUS Drag Show with some of Houston’s finest Drag performers including Carmina Vavra and Hugh Dandy!
Plus dancing to DJ Esteff, a hearty and delicious dinner buffet, outrageous contests and prizes, a kickass silent auction and wine raffle, and so much debauchery, and merriment!
