*Review contains spoilers* - One of the funniest examples of fine acting I’ve experienced in the theater. While laugh-out-loud hilarious, IT IS MAGIC is not without shades of pathos. The need we all have for belonging and recognition predates all of theater. Kudos to IT IS MAGIC and The Catastrophic Theatre for not letting us forget that.
"This is peak CATASTROPHIC THEATRE, and the entire production is on FULL TILT BOOGIE from start to finish. ... It's funny, it's quirky, and it is unlike anything else you are likely to see anytime soon."
Nothing says you’re at The Catastrophic Theatre like an evening of creativity bordering on absolute insanity, which is exactly what It Is Magic is. Too full of wit and intent to be mistaken for total lunacy, but so clever and unexpected that you might think Maher wrote this – just like The Strangerer, The Hunchback Variations, etc. – on a dare. But oh my God it works.
